A message from your National Leaders

To all CEIU Members,

With the steady rise in COVID cases around the world, we wish to thank everyone for their continued commitment in serving Canadians and in addressing concerns in their respective communities.

Hopefully in 2021 we will all be able to get back to some kind of normal, whatever normal that may be, where we will be able to gather and reunite with our families, our friends, and our co-workers.

For some of you, working from home has been and continues to be a challenge.  For others, working from home was never a possibility and some have had to continue going into their workplace amid the continued fear of the spread of COVID-19. It is not always easy working remotely or in the workplace by ourselves and not being able to interact with our colleagues in person like we did before.

Everyone needs to make sure that they take the necessary time to look after themselves and their families.  Working from home makes its easy to keep working long hours and skip the needed breaks and lunches.

We need to continue to adhere to the health and safety protocols now so that later, when it is safe to do so, we can get back to what we did prior to this pandemic.  Amid the fears, we will rise stronger wiser and more mindful of what is most important in our lives.

COVID-19 has taken numerous lives, and a lot of tears have been shed. This pandemic is having a major impact on ones’ mental health. Kids, and adults alike are dealing with mental illnesses because of what this pandemic has brought – lost of lives, loneliness, fear, etc.  We want to remind everyone that the Employee Assistant Program (EAP) is always available to you and yours should you need it.

Never can we get use to something as huge as this pandemic.  It has been amongst us since March, and earlier for other countries. We need to stop the spread of COVID-19 and the heartaches that this pandemic has brought to our lives.  It takes time, but WE can do it, WE will do it, and WE will succeed and do it right.

Your commitment in serving the Canadian public has continued throughout this pandemic and we, as your National President and your National Executive Vice-President, wish to commend you and thank you profusely for all your hard work.  Without your dedication and commitment, things could be much worse.  You continue to serve the Canadian public amongst the fears, the unknown.

With the holiday season fast approaching, we hope that everyone will get to cherish what they love the most and we do hope that in 2021 we can put this pandemic behind us and move forward stronger than ever!

In Solidarity,
