Today, the Prime Minister confirmed that the federal public service will be considering a vaccination mandate for federal employees.

Our union is keenly aware of the pain and suffering that this pandemic has caused – our members have been on the front lines of services to Canadians over the last year, overcoming hurdles and difficulties to deliver new programs like the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) smoothly and efficiently when people needed them most.

We look forward to seeing a formal proposal from the employer that ensures that our members and the public are kept safe and will work to ensure that any final policy is effective, evidence-based and respectful of our members.

Although we have already approached our departments, we anticipate further information from the PSAC, and expect that the employer will meaningfully consult with our union before making any decisions.
