CEIU is appalled with the new direction taken by TBS on the use of 699 leave. It is imperative that we hold the employer at the departmental level accountable for their complacency in this discriminatory application of an entitlement our union earned through collective bargaining. Summary of the June-July 2020 National Executive Meeting

With the present pandemic, the CEIU National Executive (NE) held their meeting by videoconferencing with ZOOM, on June 25th and 26th, and resumed on July 17th and 20th.  For four (4) hours on each of these four (4) days, the NE was hard at work for its membership.

CEIU condemns racist violence and police brutality

The National Leadership of CEIU joins the chorus of voices in standing in solidarity with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People Of Colour) at this time when we witness yet another escalation of activism denouncing yet another racist murder by police brutality on a black man in the United States; we are shocked and appalled at the murder of George Floyd by suffocation, in public and despite oppositions from the public and protests from medical professionals. This death is unacceptable.

The National Executive (NE) met in Gatineau, Quebec from Friday, April 5th to Sunday, April 7th, 2019 with training on the morning of April 5th.

The February 5th, 2019 minutes of the NE conference call were approved at this meeting and are now available on the CEIU website.  Should you, as a member of CEIU, wish to read or view these minutes or the previous minutes of the National Executive meetings, please contact a member of your Local Executive, as they have been provided with the password to access these minutes.

Fifty Million Dollar Payout to CEIU Members

In response to grievances filed in 2008, hundreds of CEIU members working at Service Canada have been given new job descriptions that reflects the work they have been doing for years, and will be receiving retroactive pay going back, in some cases, to 2006.

Update on SMSM PSDC CR-04 Grievances at Service Canada (SMSM-1102)

CEIU was invited to an in-person meeting yesterday with senior management at ESDC/Service Canada.

The purpose of the meeting was to share with our union the results of the interdepartmental classification committee assessment of the new job description presented in September 2018. The meeting was held in camera.
