Statement from Rubina Boucher, National President of the Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU).

Congratulations to CEIU members who completed PSAC’s Union Leadership Development Program (ULDP) in 2024:

On this 2nd callout for 2024, CEIU is pleased to be able to offer up to five (5) $5,000.00 National Scholarships to CEIU members in good standing, their spouse, their common-law spouse (including same sex partners) and/or their dependant(s). Take note that these scholarships are dedicated to persons who are part of equity groups.

CEIU opposes the austerity measures announced by the Carney government and will fight any potential job cuts and cuts to public services.

The CEIU National Human Rights-Race Relations Conference took place in Calgary, Alberta from June 10^th-11^th under the theme “Fight Back! The Power of Unity in Diversity.” The conference was chaired by National Vice-President for Human Rights, Mofizul Islam.

The Canada Employment and Immigration Union would like to thank everyone who applied to CEIU’s callout for the 2024 CEIU scholarships.  We received over 300 applications.

PSAC has officially launched a new round of negotiations with Treasury Board for more than 120,000 members in the PA, SV, TC, and EB groups, including over 100,000 PA members responsible for program administration, information services, communications, secretarial services, office equipment, administrative services, welfare programs, clerical functions and data processing. 

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day which coincides with the summer solstice – the longest day of the year and a day that holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for many Indigenous Peoples.

The federal government needs to put people first by investing in the public service.

This is the message that we are stressing as National Public Service Week (NPSW) comes to a close on June 21.
