The four thousand five hundred Service Management Structural Model “SMSM” job description (JD) grievances at ESDC are coming to a closure. Here are the details on the status of these files:

On March 21^st, 2019, CEIU sent Locals throughout the country an update on the SMSM-1102 file, including documents for the members. We invite the members to contact their local union officers for further information.

The employees and members of CEIU extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to our Muslim friends, to the victims and their families, and, to the community for the senseless attack at the New Zealand mosque that claimed 50 lives.  

International Women's Day is observed annually on March 8th. It is this day that we celebrate women around the world and the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women while continuing to campaign for greater progress.

In response to grievances filed in 2008, hundreds of CEIU members working at Service Canada have been given new job descriptions that reflects the work they have been doing for years, and will be receiving retroactive pay going back, in some cases, to 2006.

CEIU was invited to an in-person meeting yesterday with senior management at ESDC/Service Canada.

The purpose of the meeting was to share with our union the results of the interdepartmental classification committee assessment of the new job description presented in September 2018. The meeting was held in camera.

The CEIU Human Rights / Race Relations (HRRR) Committee is pleased to announce the CEIU Human Rights / Race Relations Conference to be held September 14 and 15, 2019, at the Fairmont Hotel in Winnipeg.

At the October 2017 National Executive (NE) meeting, a decision was made that the minutes of each National Executive meeting should be available to our membership.
