CEIU is hereby calling for nominations for the position of Alternate National Vice-President for Human Rights as well as for two (2) Alternate Representative positions on the National Human Rights/Race Relations (HR/RR) Committee.

The fourth week of September is Gender Equality Week in Canada, a time to celebrate women’s contributions to society and to advance gender equality across the labour movement, in our workplaces and across our communities.

Take Back the Night (TBTN) is a global movement that shines a light on the pervasive issue of violence against women. Since the 1970s, this annual event has aimed to eliminate all forms of gender-based violence. The importance of TBTN cannot be overstated: one in three Canadian women will experience sexual assault in their lifetime and one in four women in Canada have faced inappropriate sexual behaviors in the workplace. Violence knows no boundaries and affects individuals from every walk of life. 

The Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU) will join many other unions and organizations this year in the Capital Pride parade and related events taking place between August 17-25, 2024. As a union that fights for justice, equity, and inclusion, we are proud to join our 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Ottawa’s Pride celebrations.

Informal Conflict Management Systems (ICMS) are integrated into every department within the government as per section 205 of the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations Act (FPSLRA).

Over the years, I have witnessed a movement of evolving labour organizers who understand that taking an intersectional and holistic approach is the only way workers and the labour movement will thrive.

I was working for Employment and Social Development of Canada (ESDC) on June 28, serving Canadians by processing Employment Insurance claims, when I got a phone call that would drastically change my life.

Since the last update published on our site in June, 2022, CEIU has continued its efforts to schedule a hearing of the policy grievance filed on March 29, 2019, to denounce the employer's decision not to consider all members who performed duties of Program Services Officer (PM-01) for Pension or Integrity operations.

On July 2, 2024, you received an email advising of changes in CEIU National leadership effective June 28, 2024. This change in leadership was as a result of a decision made by PSAC’s National Board of Directors.
